The purpose of these galleries is to provide scientific documentation for research on birds in El Salvador. Photographs of birds are indexed taxonomically. Correlative code numbers refer to the database of information that accompanies each image, such as date and location, and match numbers printed on the original slides, stored at the University of Kansas.

Images are also organized in galleries by site or topic (El Salvador national parks, flora and fauna, etc.). Visitors are invited to browse all of the images, but especially the first gallery, a collection of general-interest photographic highlights, many of which have appeared in calendars, newspapers, or other media.
